A group personal accident policy is 24 hour cover, which covers employees during their service with the company, this policy has the following characteristics:

  • Issued to a group of people with similar risk profile
  • Group can be formed by an employer (of employees), organisation, travel company, banks and other service providers (for customers), etc
  • The insurance covers the expenses and compensates the insured group members for any injury sustained in the course of their lives (except injuries obtained due to excluded causes)
  • Applies to the whole world

 

The general benefit includes the following:

Accidental Death - Death or Total Permanent disability up to a limit usually in relation to ones annual earnings or a multiple thereof.

Medical Expenses arising out of accidents - Medical Aid: This is reimbursement of expenses incurred on treatment after an accident up to a limit per person per accident as may be agreed.

Permanent Total disability due to an accident - Death or total Permanent disability up to a limit usually in relation to ones annual earnings or a multiple thereof.

Permanent Partial disability due to an accident - Temporary Partial Disability: The equivalent of 1/3 (one third) of ones weekly earnings for every week one may be partially disabled (attending to only part of ones normal duties).
